The Power of Now is one of the most transformational books I’ve listened to in a long time. Written by Eckhart Tolle, one of the world’s leading spiritual guides, the books focuses on how being present in the current moment can lead to massive change in your daily life.
According to Tolle, the current moment is all that is, was, or ever will be. Everything else is simply a part of the imagination. Sometimes that imagination is good, such as when we remember a cherished moment from the past or revel in the idea of a hope for the future. Unfortunately, the vast majority of our thoughts do not help us, however, and it is far more common to hold negative energy from unpleasing past events and memories, or to stress and worry about what the future will bring.
The key to escaping this incessant stream of thoughts is to be more mindful of the present moment. When you can quiet your mind from the nearly constant flow of information that comes in from the external world and the internal thoughts alike, you can find peace.
